Have students brainstorm and find pictures that relate to self and personal character traits. (Pictures can be found in newspapers or magazines, personal pictures, etc.)
Trim pictures to show details. Pictures can be cut out exactly or left whole as students choose. (Best pictures are 1–2 inches in size.) Have students save scraps as they can be used as background filler on the picture frame.
Lay out pictures on frame, layering and filling in with scraps to make a collage of personal images. When students are satisfied with layout have them begin to paste images and backgrounds on the frame using Mod Podge®.
Using stickers, students should pick out personal character traits and attributes and add them to the collage. Additional words can be created with letter stickers. If needed, words could be created and printed from a desktop publishing program.
Cover the frame using Mod Podge®, following label instructions. Allow to dry. (Recommended drying time is 15–20 minutes between coats.) Have students place personal picture into frame and display in classroom.
